MIAMI – A man was struck by a car and killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run crash, Miami-Dade police said.

Authorities said officers were called shortly after 7 a.m. Friday to the 6400 block of Northwest 72nd Avenue about a pedestrian lying on the side of the road.

Police said the victim, identified as David Fernandez, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe that Fernandez was struck late Thursday night by a vehicle that was heading north on 72nd Avenue.

Investigators said the vehicle that struck Fernandez is believed to be a black 2009-2016 Nissan Sentra that has extensive damage to the right side.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
