SUNRISE, Fla. – A woman escaped a fire Monday morning in her Sunrise home, but her two dogs did not.

The fire was reported about 10 a.m. on Northwest 30th Place.

Sky 10 was flying above the house as firefighters doused it with water to put out any hot spots. There was also a large hole in the roof.

Firefighters said they saw flames shooting out of a window when they arrived.

The woman who lives in the house ran to a neighbor’s home for help.

“She was right here on my sidewalk,” neighbor Shay Joseph said.

The woman’s husband was at work at the time of the fire. The woman, who uses an oxygen tank because of asthma, was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but there appeared to be several containers of paint and other chemicals in the open garage.
